Keep tabs on all shipments, at all times – with Intelligent Tracking Management (iTM). Part of the T-Systems AutoID/Right Time Enterprise Services solution, this tried-and-tested system allows businesses to locate, track and manage freight trains, individual cars, and loads across Europe.

The iTM automated tracking-and-tracing solution enables railroad companies to effectively monitor and co-ordinate freight cars, both nationally and internationally. As a result, they maintain full visibility into the position of shipments, even when they cross borders – a situation where individual cars are often difficult to locate. In addition, iTM significantly improves capacity utilization – and has proven to cut the time cars are not in use by up to 30 per cent.

Railion AG – Europe’s largest rail freight operator – has successfully deployed eCargo (a solution based on T- Systems iTM) for a number of years. Around 14,000 Railion cars are equipped with iTM satellite devices that report deviations from schedules via GPS, enabling the company to respond immediately. In addition, SMS text message alerts are issued whenever there are critical changes to the shipment, e.g. as a result of extreme shock, heat, cold or unauthorized opening of a car door.
