St. Christopher via satellite

At the Systems trade fair, T-Systems paid tribute to the French company NODBOX for its great idea: a satellite navigation system to keep drivers safe by warning them before they take a curve too fast.
It can happen quickly: Drivers who do not pay attention, if only for a moment, when taking a curve at high speeds in poor weather conditions definitely need a guardian angel. Or a new warning system that warns drivers in plenty of time to take their foot off the gas. To generate the alarm, the application combines information on the section of road being traveled with indications of how fast the car is currently going. Via satellite technology, the application also receives signals regarding current weather conditions from road maintenance crews. The solution evaluates all of this information in real-time and is therefore able to warn the driver of potential risks ahead of time. Current systems do not react until the tires have already started to skid.
Special prize at European idea competition
T-Systems presented the award to NODBOX in the scope of the European Satellite Navigation Competition 2007. The special prize recognizes the company with the best idea for corporate applications in the area of localization and navigation. Now, T-Systems and NODBOX plan to work together to develop ways to implement the idea in the field and to integrate the warning system into automobiles. T-Systems plans to add the concept to its solution portfolio for business customers from the automotive industry some time in the future.
