The passengers of InterConnex have had plenty to get excited about since November 1st. Between Leipzig and Warnemünde, they can purchase their tickets via mobile phone. And there's more: Passengers get a welcome-to-mobile-freedom discount when they use their cell phones to purchase tickets.
If you are in a hurry, do not have change for the machine or just want to take it easy, all you need to buy a ticket to the Baltic Sea is a mobile phone. All passengers have to do is log on to www.interconnex-handyticket.com from their train on the InterConnex stretch between the Baltic Sea and Leipzig to access the mobile ticketing system. They then receive their own program for purchasing their tickets via SMS. You can pay for your ticket via debit or credit card. And once you are on the train, all you have to do is show your mobile phone display to the ticket inspector.
Modern ticketing systems gain ground
T-Systems developed the mobile phone ticket for InterConnex, making the switch-over to local and long-distance public transportation easier with its convenient ticketing system. Electronic and mobile ticketing systems provide passengers and transportation companies with significant benefits. This can be seen by taking a look at other current ticketing applications where the T-Systems technology is being used. For example, the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) is currently testing a mobile ticketing system in which passengers simply swipe their mobile phones past a contact point before boarding. It doesn't get more convenient than that.
