We depend on our employees’ ideas and creativity, which can only blossom in an environment that encourages enjoyment of competition and free thinking. For this reason, and because we fulfill our social responsibility within the context of our stakeholder model of corporate governance, we are also involved in the sport of sailing and in cultural events such as the Rheingau Music Festival.
High-tech sailing embodies the values for which T-Systems stands: flexibility, reliability and competence. We are the official chief sponsor of the Shosholoza team, the South African challenger for the America’s Cup 2007. The boat and its team also profit from our expertise in information and communication technology. In addition, as a partner of the German Sailing Association (DSV), we are enabling two teams in each of the classes Yngling, 49er and Tornado to prepare for the qualifications for the 2008 Regattas. This means that the promotion of top-level sport is constantly present at our company, and motivates us to deliver top performance in our business.
International presence
We have also initiated an international exchange program for next-generation sailors, in which talented young sailors meet in an international environment. Two exchange programs have already been carried out with South African, German and Spanish children and teenagers. This allows young people to experience the host countries’ sailing and training methods. And we help to give young people a new perspective.
With our sport sponsoring we underscore the international presence of our company – especially in growth markets. This also applies to our cultural sponsoring, with which we support international performing artists, and to our promotion of education and science through the Telekom Foundation.
