The customer
Commerzbank is a major player in the banking world, and one of Germany’s leading financial institutions, with 25,000 employees at its headquarters in Frankfurt, at 800 branch offices, and at national subsidiaries. It also has a further 7,000 staff at international units across the world. Commerzbank offers integrated financial services for retail customers, and for businesses of all sizes. In the highly competitive world of banking, the right IT resources can create that all-important edge. And Commerzbank leverages this potential for its desktop services. And after an intensive, rigorous selection process, with bids from ten leading IT service providers, Commerzbank opted for T-Systems.
The challenge
The desktop system landscape at Commerzbank had reached the end of its lifecycle. Maintenance and repairs were becoming unacceptable cost drivers, and completely new technology was needed. Commerzbank wanted to replace all PCs across Germany within 12 months, and at the same time, ensure the provision of on-site maintenance. What’s more, just 14 days after the contract came into force, the provider would have to commence maintenance of legacy hardware. This represented a huge challenge, especially given the tight time frame, and the fact that this was the first time the two organizations had worked together. But it was a complete success. Primarily because both sides established rapid, frank and highly professional communications channels.
The T-Systems solution
The provision and maintenance of desktop systems is part of the Managed Desktop Services portfolio from T-Systems - an end-to-end offering for the entire lifecycle.
The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary installed new PCs, notebooks, monitors and keyboards at Commerzbank headquarters in Frankfurt and at more than 800 branches throughout Germany. A key requirement was that ongoing bank activities should not be disrupted. This was achieved by means of pre-configured hardware and the phased replacement of legacy systems.
