T-Systems’ production, information and control system (known by the German acronym FIS) is automating the supply chain in VW’s plants worldwide, thereby controlling production effectively.

The system makes it possible to find all required details for each individual vehicle. All data can be traced back to the archives of the Volkswagen Group – right down to the assembly sequence, component serial numbers and production times.

Most of the more than five million vehicles produced by the Volkswagen Group each year are planned and dispatched to the assembly lines by an FIS installation.
