Outsourcing for Bestsellers

“Harry Potter” and “The Lord of the Rings” – when it comes to magical entertainment in Italy, you will usually find the name De Agostini Editore involved.
The De Agostini Group has been a business giant in Italy for over 100 years. The multinational Group encompasses four companies, which are centrally controlled: the main publishing holding company De Agostini Editore, De Agostini Communications, responsible for film and television, the Lottomatica lottery company, which is quoted on the Milan stock exchange, and the investment companies DeA Capital and IDeA Alternative Investments.
The publishing house coordinates the work of 2,000 employees in 30 countries, as well as publications in 13 languages. The portfolio is broadly based and ranges, for example from the Harry Potter Chess Course and the Lord of the Rings Strategy Game to the DVC with the 2006 Soccer World Cup and the Schumi Formula 1 model racing car kit. That’s why De Agostini Editore requires ample scope for developing its core business activities, as well as a flexible, efficient and inexpensive ICT infrastructure. Consequently, the publishing group reviewed the entire structure of its information and communication technology and entrusted it to T-Systems. In future the ICT service provider will be responsible for everything that makes the life of De Agostini’s employees easier, from the computer center down to the PC workstations and laptops. “We recognized the need to continue developing our existing ICT environment in order to meet the increasing market demands”, says Guido Di Dario, coordinator of the outsourcing project at De Agostini Editore. “What’s more, our partnership with T-Systems Italia enabled us to cut costs, while also ensuring the quality and flexibility of our services.”
