“The partner we wanted”

March 05, 2008

T-Systems and Cognizant announced their partnership in the systems integration field at a press conference at CeBIT today.
The media were also waiting for DT’s decision with bated breath. Deutsche Telekom CEO René Obermann revealed together with T-Systems CEO Reinhard Clemens Zvezdana Seeger, Chief Systems Integration Officer T-Systems and President and CEO of Cognizant, Francisco D’Souza, as well as Gordon Coburn, Executive Vice President und CFO von Cognizant, the global alliance in the systems integration area to journalists earlier today. “With this partnership, we present the final strategic element that was missing on the road to T-Systems' reorientation. In Cognizant, we have found just the partner we wanted. We complement each other perfectly", said René Obermann. The new business model was particularly geared towards European companies and organizations. Both companies intend to provide these customers with global and cost-efficient delivery services coupled with first-class onsite customer service in the future. “We combine onsite, nearshore and offshore expertise in across industry segments with large geographical coverage, a first-class service portfolio and even greater access to the top talent worldwide. Our customers will benefit from this,” said Reinhard Clemens. He underlined the fact that the partnership between T-Systems and Cognizant was the first of its kind between a major European player and a global IT services provider. “This puts us in an extremely strong market position in the key regions Europe, Americas and Asia and will significantly push our growth.”
“Together, we now make up one of the very few truly global IT service providers. We combine the strengths of two successful companies for our customers,” said Francisco D’Souza. He went on to say that, together, the partners would become even bigger and more flexible on their key markets. Both managers were convinced that their alliance would change the IT services market in Europe and beyond.
New growth opportunities
In Hanover, Mr. Clemens and D’Souza emphasized that their industry activities also complement each other and are to be expanded jointly – with T-Systems’ strengths in the automotive and telecommunications industries, in the telecommunications and public sector, and Cognizant’s leading position in the financial services, pharma/healthcare and retail industries. “Our new partnership will open up new opportunities for T-Systems as a whole and make a key contribution in terms of growth and profitability,” said the CEO of T-Systems. The collaboration also combines the great expertise of both companies, based on which they will be working towards increased growth in the systems integrations business.
