Your PC desktop via the Internet

March 06, 2008

In Hanover, visitors at the T-Systems booth learned how they can access their personal PC desktop from any location flexibly and securely on their preferred end-device.
One reason why dinosaurs went extinct was their inability to adapt to their changing environment. The same may soon prove true for desktop computers: These big beasts offer considerably more features than any individual actually needs, are power hogs and you cannot use them on-the-go.
Significant savings
Being able to access your desktop from the network means that employees are able to use their personal desktop interface, including all data and services, at their desk, from their home office, at the airport or at the hotel. They receive access to all features at any location on various end-devices from a T-Systems data center. At the office, you can use thin clients on which no applications have been installed. This reduces the huge amount of effort usually reserved for administration, maintenance and installation activities. The method leads to clear savings as compared to traditional desktop solutions. And you can even take your desktop with you in your pocket: A specially-designed USB stick gives you secure access to all programs at any time with an end-device connected to the Internet – worldwide.
