For many schools, ICT-supported education is still a visionary concept. But in T-City Friedrichshafen, the first school on Lake Constance will be employing the Internet-based educational platform Edunex.
In the programs at the Pestalozzi school in Friedrichshafen, teachers and students will soon be accessing their materials online. More schools, from high schools to vocational schools, will follow. With this development, life-long learning will soon become reality in T-City. In collaboration with the principal of the school, which was founded over 80 years ago, T-Systems launched the Edunex (Education Next Generation) educational platform during CeBIT. The school, which is located in the Friedrichshafen city center, will soon be using Edunex for all classes and subjects.
Individual teaching and learning
The solution, which was developed in collaboration with teachers and textbook publishers, provides a clear and easy-to-use educational interface. It enables teachers to integrate different multimedia subject matter into their classes based on their students and their teaching style. Edunex supports individual learning and homework assignments, group and partner assignments, project-oriented learning and learning in a classroom setting. The educational platform employs specialized modules from the educational offers of libraries and textbook publishers, Wikis and blogs as well as teaching materials created by the teachers themselves. Schools are impressed with the platform: Around 130,000 students and 12,000 teachers at 700 schools in Germany currently use the platform. There is no doubt for the principal of the Pestalozzi school. "In ten years, schools everywhere will be using ICT-supported teaching methods in the classroom." Of course, the actual learning is still up to the students. "But it's even more fun with a computer, where we can chat and help each other with our homework.”
