115: A phone number for life

March 07, 2008

Automobile registrations, marriage licenses, IDs or liquor licensing: 115 will take people and industry right where they want to go. T-Systems shows how local service centers can be networked to meet this goal.
The things that make life easier for individuals and companies often present a complex challenge for public administration. This new number will be available to 80 million people and will provide answers to various issues and questions. Every city, every community and every state should be able to meet these challenges without abandoning the structure they already have in place. T-Systems works with existing infrastructures and supports public administration where needed on its way to becoming a service provider who will be available nationwide by dialing 115.
At the CeBIT, T-Systems demonstrated how service centers, telephone exchanges and individual government agency workstations can be connected via an area-wide network. Administrative staff can access a database with standardized information to address a number of the requests during the very first call, simplifying and accelerating many types of request processes.
No request left behind
There’s good news for service providers in the EU, too. According to the EU services directive, service providers should be able to easily process all service-related authorization procedures online by the end of 2009. Baden-Württemberg is leading the way – the state and its communities already provide many public services and online forms under www.service-bw.de. An electronic jurisdiction finder takes you directly to person you’re looking for. The summary? Every search conducted using this service portal will go to the right place, and many issues can be resolved simply with a click of the mouse.
