Service portal gets new functions

June 22, 2006

T-Systems and the German state of Baden-Württemberg have agreed to work together to expand the citizen services portal www.service-bw.de. In the future, citizens will be able to access the multilingual portal and utilize a secure document filing service.
The portal, which currently only offers information in German, will soon be available in English as well. Additional languages will include French, Spanish and Italian. In the future, it will be easier for citizens from other countries, companies and investors to get information about the state of Baden-Württemberg and to make use of the services that the administration there offers. Those citizens who use PDAs or MDAs while on the road will also benefit from the portal expansion. From now on, the portal will recognize with what type of device users access the Internet. It will then adjust the display format to fit that device. A practical innovation is a safe for electronic documents where citizens can securely file applications, notifications and other documents.
The expansion of the portal will take place in the context of a strategic partnership between the state of Baden-Württemberg and T-Systems. "Even in its current form, the Baden-Württemberg service portal has a great reputation among the administration and citizens of the state," says Holger Hille, head of the States and Local Authorities segment at T-Systems "With the expansion of the portal, Baden-Württemberg will once again set the standard for the future development of E-Government in Germany."
