Prize for data center energy efficiency
November 27, 2008
When it comes to reducing CO2 emissions, T-Systems Austria is ahead of the rest. The ICT service provider was presented the Green IT Award 2008 for its environmentally friendly data center.

Rüdiger Maier from ITmagazine Monitor and Max Schafferfrom T-Systems
IDC Central Europe and the professional journal Monitor awarded the prize within the scope of the Green IDC Day symposium, which was held in Vienna on November 26, 2008. The jury assessed green IT projects such as efficient use of IT infrastructures and the environmentally friendly design, production, development and recycling of IT products.
Green Dynamics increase efficiency
The jury of experts praised the T-Systems Green Dynamics model as being a highly innovative project that contributed significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Green Dynamics ensures improvement of data center energy efficiency resulting in a decrease in CO2 emissions. The model enables companies to simulate how various ICT components work together and then use this information to make the most effective ICT decisions. An excellent example of Green Dynamics is the T-Center in St. Marx. With its optimized energy and climate control systems, virtualization technologies and energy-efficient hardware, the T-Center is one of the most efficient data centers of its kind worldwide. T-Systems’ broader goal is to cut the CO2 emissions caused by its energy consumption in half by 2010. The ICT service provider runs regular energy checks on its data centers to help the company achieve this goal.
