New team for the automotive industry
November 16, 2006
T-Systems has successfully integrated the former VW IT subsidiary gedas and is now striving for global market leadership in the automotive sector. This is not an overly ambitious goal: In Europe, T-Systems is the clear leader today in terms of sales.
From now on, all of the activities for the automotive industry will be combined at a new business area. T-Systems works for over 50 globally active suppliers and eight major manufacturers. The ICT service provider operates ICT applications for core processes for two of these companies. With the takeover of gedas, T-Systems now has over 25 local business units and is represented in all important regions and automotive markets worldwide. The company has around 6,000 employees working at over 50 locations in Europe, Asia, South and North America and Africa.
New local business units in Mexico and Argentina
With the integration of gedas, T-Systems now has eleven new local business units, for example, in Argentina and Mexico. This means that the ICT service provider is represented at all important production centers. T-Systems was also able to expand its position in countries such as China and Spain, and as we speak the company is already number one in the automotive sector on the Iberian peninsula.
With the expertise from gedas, T-Systems has increased its overall ability to deliver ICT solutions to global customers around the world - with uniform standards and consistent quality. And all of this under one name: As of 2007, gedas will take on the name of T-Systems worldwide.
