Leaving the competition in the dust

January 13, 2009

Running smoothly: T-Systems and Cognizant are managing software applications for the tire divisions of Continental AG.

Starting in 2009, T-Systems and Cognizant together will be managing construction and other programs for Continental’s research and development. A majority of the services will come from India. Cognizant employs most of its employees on the subcontinent and can therefore perform outsourcing tasks reliably and cost-effectively at that location. This results in immense cost advantages, which T-Systems and Cognizant are passing on to their customers. For example, Continental will significantly reduce its previous expenses for administration and maintenance of its CADCAD

(Computer Aided Design) programs such as Catia and UGS/NX. This was one unbeatable argument with which T-Systems and Cognizant were able to put Continental's previous service provider out of contention after 10 years of working with the company.

To a successful cooperation

“Profitable growth and consistent cost management in all business areas are the foundation of our success. The T-Systems business model is another building block for this,” says Elisabeth Hoeflich, CIO of Continental Tire Divisions. Because of the external all-around user support, the tire company’s own ITIT (= Information Technology)

employees can fully focus on continuing the IT development for its core business.
