Meal service, emergency call systems and medical care with the aid of state-of-the-art telemedicine solutions: Such services will make the lives of seniors easier.
That’s the goal of the “Health Services at Home” panel of experts. Panel; members, consisting of representatives of the housing, German health care, German telecom, and health, long-term nursing and pension insurance sectors as well as the German Federal Ministry of Health, today announced the results of the “Networked Living: Expansion, Acceptance and Sustainable Business Models” study in Berlin. The study was conducted by Forschungsinstitut InWIS Forschung & Beratung GmbH of the Ruhr University Bochum.

First concrete projects

In Dortmund, renters in a residential community are now able to communicate with each other and order special care services using a special resident portal. In Karlsruhe, renters can use a service portal to access the services of care facilities, pharmacies and physicians right from their homes. “We want to enable people to live in their own homes for as long as possible – living for a long life,” explained Lutz Freitag, President of GdW Bundesverband deutscher Wohnungs- und Immobilienunternehmen (Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Enterprise). “With the corresponding promotion and acceptance, it is possible that a new international trend for so-called ‘welfare technologies’ could arise in the market,” added Holger Hille, Director of Countries, Municipalities and Health Care at T-Systems.
