EuroCIS 2018: Technology never sleeps

The trading sector requires guidance when it comes to digitization. At the EuroCIS 2018, Telekom will present the customer journey with the data journey – from the hype to practical applications.

At the EuroCIS 2018 from February 27 until March 1, the who’s who of the trading world will meet once again. 11,000 visitors are expected to visit Düsseldorf to experience high-tech from 450 exhibitors from 26 countries. “Technology never sleeps” – and it is revolutionizing the trading sector with ever shorter innovation cycles. The “Trend in retail” study carried out by HDE, EHI, KPMG and Kantar TNS shows that business in branches is still relevant. And the fact that 75 percent of people in Germany still want to shop personally in stores further strengthens the position of retail chains. In order to avoid losing momentum, however, technologies that inspire individual customers while optimizing retail processes are needed.  Customers are receptive to new things. According to Trendbüro QVC and TNS Infratest, around 42 percent of Germans could imagine using “digital assistants that automatically put together the best-value offers”.

In this jungle of digitization opportunities, the trading sector now requires guidance – which innovation is the right one and can be integrated into the existing system landscape. At the EuroCIS, Telekom will present a customer journey with the addition of the data journey. At the same time, experts will offer advice as to how to implement solutions in individual cases. Hence the motto at the EuroCIS 2018: “Fresh Retail Now! Discover the new. Embrace the new.”

EuroCIS 2018: a journey into the future

At the EuroCIS, the customer journey in a store branch now has a new digital aspect. For example, the shopping trolley connects to the customer’s smartphone, guides the customer to their desired products and shows special offers. However, the electronic labels on products which show things including availability are new too. The IoT store shelf automatically provides information about products and promotions. The data journey includes tracking customer behavior including analyses. Intelligent platforms compile all data regarding reductions, stock levels and customers centrally. This is ideal for personal offers across all channels. A smart refrigerator which predicts maintenance requirements and repairs itself will also be shown by T-Systems at EuroCIS. This and many other combined innovations from Telekom will make the EuroCIS 2018 a genuinely new experience for retailers.
