Cisco, one of the leading network solution providers worldwide, and T-Systems/Deutsche Telekom have taken their partnership to a new level in terms of quality. Within the scope of their Intercloud initiative, the two IT companies are launching the first secure public cloud from Germany, providing a solution to the safe harbor issue.
T-Systems is a partner in the world’s largest cloud network, Intercloud. Intercloud makes it possible for companies to expand their private cloud to a public cloud at their own data center. This lets them move applications back and forth between the private and public cloud regardless of the provider. OpenStack open-source technology helps make this innovation possible.
Safe in Biere
T-Systems will be operating the technical platform at the high-security, redundant cloud data center in Biere near the city of Magdeburg. The twin data center has a redundant structure and guarantees 99.98% availability (p.a.). Intercloud’s security architecture is also in line with strict German and European data privacy laws and in compliance with the highest standards. Now that the European Court of Justice has declared the Safe Harbor Agreement between Europe and the US null and void, DSI Intercloud by Cisco and T-Systems is the secure German IaaS service from the cloud.
T-Systems uses Cisco hardware products in combination with its own extensive experience in the areas of global connectivity, network infrastructures and systems integration services. T-Systems is the only European partner to offer the secure public cloud service DSI Intercloud.
European Intercloud for the public sector, too
Where public clouds are currently still unsecured, for instance in public use, in real-time communication between cities and citizens, the European Intercloud now offers completely new, secure possibilities for interaction. All sorts of cloud services can be provided from one source on the basis of German security standards with the new technology. The high security standards and data privacy requirements set forth by German and European law prohibit foreign security agencies from accessing stored data, and, following the decision regarding the Safe Harbor Agreement, data transfer to the US as well. Data remains at German data centers; the customer maintains data sovereignty.
What’s more, current technologies can be operated together with applications in development on a single platform.
It’s easy to combine public and private infrastructures securely. Thanks to OpenStack, an open development environment, administrators can use the open architecture to create special cloud computing applications. The independent, open operating system is currently the standard that requires no investment, minimizing risk.
