Microsoft Azure is Microsoft's public cloud computing platform, available worldwide. Based on consistent standards, it offers infrastructure (IaaS), platform (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS) for calculations, analysis, storage, networking, or IoT. Users use Azure to develop new applications or to run existing applications in the public and private cloud.
In the base module "MCS Azure – Foundation", T-Systems manages all core resources, including virtual networks, routing, peering, or KeyVault. Configuration of access rights to all Azure services, regular adjustment of the provided resources to the defined guidelines, cost reporting, and monitoring are likewise included. The "MCS Azure – Advanced" module extends these basic services to include virtual machines (VM) and operating system instances (OS). T-Systems also manages these – including regular quality and security updates according to the specifications published by Microsoft or the respective Linux distributor. In self-service mode, customers may add or remove all resources as required.
With Microsoft Azure Stack, Microsoft Azure Cloud can be installed in any location, on-premises in a company's own data center, or in a highly secure data center operated by T-Systems. Alongside flexible computing resources, the Azure platform and software services are also available locally. When T-Systems offers Azure Stack from its own data centers as a managed cloud provider, users may use the resources at their disposal as flexibly as in a public cloud. The advantage: this makes Microsoft Azure Stack especially suitable for companies that need to adhere to high compliance and data protection requirements.
The installation and operation of a company's own Azure Stack private cloud environment is complex – from housing and network to selection and integration of the appliances. With DSI Azure Stack, T-Systems not only provides the Microsoft platform, it also delivers the design, setup, and operations. Data and applications will be placed on specific hardware in a T-Systems' data center or on-premises with the customer. The cloud provider ensures permanent availability and performance of resources, and as a Managed Azure Stack, T-Systems provides further administrative tasks, such as the monitoring of services or proactive error rectification. This way, companies are provided with a highly secure private cloud solution that can be easily extended to a hybrid cloud.
T-Systems employs over 1,500 transformation specialists and 2,000 Microsoft-certified experts, advising customers on the development of a secure infrastructure and the selection of services and tools, and provide billing, support, management, and network services. The Azure Cloud is recommended for a variety of workloads or the addition of cloud components for existing local MS applications – the licenses already purchased for the Windows and Office environments are retained.
