For example, a secure connection is configured as an additional transmission path, and employed for back-up purposes as well as for accommodating peaks in load. IntraSelect is produced on T-Systems’ high-performance IP MPLS platform, supporting approximately 4,047,000,000 megabytes (4.0 petabytes) of IP traffic daily and worldwide. This backbone platform enables global data exchange, in combination with exceptionally high availability, a large number of PoPs, and rapid rerouting. The worldwide network infrastructure, with approximately 300,000 kilometers of fiber-optic cables, is constantly beeing extended and enhanced. Currently, T-Systems manages more than 1,800 IP VPNs for some 68,000 sites, and 278,000 routers and switches at customer locations around the globe.
