Personal PCs, laptops, and tablets can become a security issue. In addition, many companies have strict compliance, security, and data protection requirements. Discussing content, holding a meeting with the customer, or effective project management – many daily work tasks can only be carried out in cooperation. But when it is no longer possible to work in the office, even in small teams, fast, secure solutions are required: to continue to enable home office collaboration and team communication as an employer, many companies are currently using public cloud offerings such as Office 365. But for working with business-critical applications and data, as well as with strict security and compliance requirements, the private cloud is recommended.
A closed private cloud fulfills legal data protection requirements such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In addition, far-reaching security mechanisms can be established. However, this doesn't have to be more expensive – with the private cloud, more flexible licensing models are possible than in the public cloud. For instance, in the 500 to 15,000 employee range, the private cloud as a sourcing model is even more cost-effective than the public cloud. The software can be individually configured for employees and is protected against failure by service level agreements (SLA). At the same time, additional features such as telephony services can be integrated and data exchange encrypted. The private cloud framework also facilitates self-service operation and all data is backed up automatically.
When companies must adhere to very strict compliance policies or legal requirements, data can be held within a private cloud and in a defined legal space. Compared to the prices for Microsoft Office 365 applications for the public cloud, costs are up to 30 percent lower. Single sign-on and service management are included in the price per user. Existing licenses can generally continue to be used.
