ITCS: open, intelligent, and secure

New operations control system for local public transport from T-Systems

2026.02.24

Open architecture: Modular microservices with standardized interfaces

At IT-Trans in Karlsruhe, T-Systems is unveiling its new operations control system for local public transport. The Intermodal Transport Control System (ITCS) is based on microservices with open and standardized interfaces. This allows T-Systems to seamlessly integrate additional modules and services. The new architecture is designed for flexibility, scalability, and interoperability.

AI tool: Real-time forecasts for operations and vehicle deployment

With ATRON and Ridango, two providers are now expanding the ITCS partner ecosystem with software solutions for control centers. These include AI-supported real-time forecasts of arrival and departure times, as well as analyses of the range and deployment planning of electric buses.

T-Systems is responsible for integrating all components on a central platform and also operates the ITCS in the sovereign T Cloud in Germany. Data communication takes place via modern mobile communications technologies such as LTE and 5G, as well as digital radio standards such as TETRA.

“The open interfaces allow us to integrate new components quickly and as needed,” explains Jens Hartmann, Head of Public Transport & Rail at T-Systems. “For our customers, this means greater flexibility, individually configurable solutions, less dependence on individual providers, and significantly shorter innovation cycles.”
