Secure Enterprise Mobility Management for KAESER

Just like KAESER's machines, its employees also work in numerous countries on many different continents all over the world. As a digital pioneer, the international company invested early in predictive maintenance in order to detect faults in the systems before they occur. With the help of T-Systems, KAESER introduced an app that connects mobile devices to the SAP Cloud in order to send direct alerts to service technicians. With the implementation of this project, it quickly became clear that mobile access to business applications could also increase efficiency in other specialist areas and ultimately even across companies. This realization led to a new strategy: the transfer of all business processes to the mobile world.

The challenge

• The provision of relevant data for service technicians via mobile solutions simplified and accelerated the service process
• These updates resulted in numerous other mobile possibilities, such as travel expense accounting, access to company applications, etc., via mobile end devices
• KAESER needed a comprehensive, managed solution to manage devices, applications, users and the security concept
• The goal is to map all business processes on a mobile level

Within a month after the decision was made, mobile devices were rolled out in 48 countries, including the USA, Europe, Asia and Africa. KAESER employees can now work while on the move, from calendar entries and e-mail communication to the use of a wide variety of business applications such as Customer Relationship Management (SAP C/4HANA), Supply Chain Management (SAP Ariba), travel expense reports, and much more. The devices are managed in T-Systems' central Enterprise Mobility Management system and are also equipped with the Mobile Protect Pro security solution. 

This allows the international SME to concentrate on its core tasks while professionally managing all topics relating to the mobile world – from devices and apps, to content and access, to security issues. Mobile Protect Pro functions like a long-term ECG, which permanently monitors the end devices and their connections and immediately detects any anomalies. These are immediately reported to the Enterprise Mobility Management system, MobileIron, which then automatically triggers predefined measures to prevent damage. Together with T-Systems, KAESER has laid the foundation to provide mobility for all business processes in the future.
