Dr. Gottfried Ludewig has been Senior Vice President Health Industry at T-Systems since 2022 and heads the healthcare division of the Telekom subsidiary. He is responsible for leading a team of over 700 experts, bundles all initiatives for the healthcare industry and is responsible for the strategic development and expansion of the business. Gottfried Ludewig reports directly to Dr. Ferri Abolhassan, Member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom and CEO of T-Systems. The Bonn-born entrepreneur has been responsible for the Verimi cooperation, among other things. Both companies provide digital identities to Barmer’s 8.7 million policyholders. He also initiated the cooperation with Recare, which offers a patient discharge management solution with Deutsche Telekom.
Until 2022, Gottfried Ludewig was head of the “Digitization and Innovation” department at the Federal Ministry of Health. In this role, he was responsible for legislative projects such as the Digital Care Act and the Patient Data Protection Act. Among other things, these laws have initiated the topics of electronic patient records, electronic prescriptions, the right of insured persons to be supplied with digital health applications (“apps on prescription”), the creation of a research data centre and requirements for interoperability. He also steered the process of developing and introducing the Corona-Warn-App. Previously, he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives for six years, where he served as health policy spokesman and deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. Parallel to his parliamentary mandate, he worked part-time for the management consultancy PwC.
