IAA Mobility 2023: Homologation with Digital LoopT-Systems and partners from the Digital Loop project group present a new solution that significantly speeds up the process of homologation for cars: Virtual homologation for Software Updates. The German Federal Motor Transport Authority approves new car models for road traffic. The so-called homologation takes several months. The Audi A4, for example, will then be approved for road traffic for the entire series – so far. In the meantime, however, cars have become computers on four wheels. And computers need software updates. Cars will soon receive several updates per month. Some of them are relevant for safety – and require a new approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority, for example in the lane departure warning system. If each of these updates takes weeks to be approved, safety-relevant functions will be released into cars far too late. The solution to this is the Digital Loop.
