Digital X Cologne: How AI creates real added value

Europe's leading digitalization initiative shows how companies can successfully integrate cloud, security, AI agents, and digital sovereignty

August 11 2026

From "Wow" to "Value": Digital X shows how artificial intelligence creates impact in companies

Not if, but how: Artificial intelligence (AI) has arrived in companies. Now it is being decided whether pilot projects generate value and whether companies can bring together speed, security, and control. Digital X 2026 therefore not only demonstrates what AI can achieve technically, but also shows how it can be applied productively, scaled securely, and governed responsibly. With cloud. With security. And with digital solutions.

Specific use cases and over 100 masterclasses demonstrate value for businesses

On 8 September in Cologne, Digital X offers the opportunity to explore all facets of AI as a "trending topic". It brings together technology, business implementation, and social and political questions at one place under the motto "Navigate What's Next".

The Rheinauhafen becomes a campus for digital transformation

On two stages, leading figures from business, politics, and society will discuss these topics. The speakers include, among others:

  • Prof. Dr. Yuval Noah Harari, historian and bestselling author ("homo deus", "Nexus")
  • Dr. Angela Merkel, former Federal Chancellor, in conversation with Prof. Dr. Miriam Meckel
  • Dr. Roland Busch (CEO, Siemens)
  • Janna Ensthaler, entrepreneur and venture capital investor ("Höhle der Löwen")
  • Roman Howe (Claude/Anthropic)
  • Dr. Florence Gaub, political scientist and futurist
  • Tim Höttges, CEO, Deutsche Telekom
  • Dr. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Member of the European Parliament
  • Dr. Robert Habeck, former Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs
  • Dr. Ferri Abolhassan (CEO, T-Systems and Member of the Board of Management, Deutsche Telekom)

Masterclasses, guided tours, and experiential worlds provide concrete applications and technical evidence. Digital X showcases the full spectrum of modern enterprise applications. The expected 6,000 visitors will experience how cloud, security, AI agents, and digital sovereignty work together and how individual technologies give rise to concrete business solutions. Live demonstrations, expert discussions, and real-world use cases make innovations tangible and provide inspiration for your own digital
transformation.

Around the Chocolate Museum, various themed worlds are being created together with Deutsche Telekom and 90 other companies.

  • Secure digitalization—cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and resilient cloud and network infrastructures.
  • Productive AI for businesses—from sovereign AI infrastructure and AI agents to agentic AI for intelligent business processes.
  • AI in everyday work—intelligent assistance systems, AI smart glasses, and digital helpers for industry, logistics, and service.
  • Connected business—intelligent networking of people, locations, machines, and data with modern connectivity and IoT solutions.
  • Practical examples from business and society—from AI-supported emergency medicine to autonomous logistics and innovative cloud strategies.

"Companies today don't need more promises about AI. They want to know what works, what prerequisites are necessary, and how they can retain control even as automation increases. Digital X provides exactly this guidance," says Klaus Werner, host of Digital X and Managing Director Business Customers, Telekom Deutschland.
