The Digital Twin
Cloud solutions, SD-WAN and Cyber Security Services - digital solutions for a company whose business is based on paper. The Austrian group Prinzhorn recycles paper and cardboard and produces packaging made of corrugated board. This requires complex IT and network operations, which Prinzhorn has outsourced to T-Systems. Manfred Ofner, CIO at Prinzhorn, wanted to achieve greater transparency of IT services through outsourcing. In an interview with BEST PRACTICE, he explains that Prinzhorn can now use local monitoring systems and dashboards to assess details such as bandwidth utilization and even the overall status much better. Ofner and his IT professionals can detect attacks almost in real time with the Security Operation Center, SOC for short.
A campus network is a combination of a private and a public network - for example for industrial companies. The private part of the network sparks only on the factory premises and is not accessible to the public. In Schwabmünchen near Augsburg, the company OSRAM operates the first campus network of its kind together with Telekom. Today at the #Netzgeschichten
In Berlin it is already transmitting today, the communication standard of the future. The 5G test field in the capital extends from Neukölln to the Reichstag, for example. We accompany the Deutsche Telekom press spokesmen on a tour of the 5G area. They reveal a lot about the new technology, its advantages and the plan for its future.
Authorities and offices are increasingly taking advantage of digitisation. In an interview, Erich Paprotny confirms that the introduction of the e-File is the first step in the right direction for public administration. At the IT.NRW industry meeting, he discusses new topics such as AI, Blockchain and Big Data with decision-makers from public administration.
Dr. Jan Mütter describes a good example of how to increase the efficiency of IT in the public sector: Together with T-Systems, he has migrated a billing procedure that affects over 600,000 state employees from an IBM mainframe to an SAP HANA database.
“Agricultural subsidies are not only a highly complex topic, but also one that attracts a great deal of public attention,” says Gottfried Milde, spokesman for the WIBank management. "Hessian farmers need planning security and financial leeway for important investments. They are dependent on prompt disbursement of the subsidies." The development bank, part of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba), provides development programmes for Hessian companies, founders and private individuals and facilitates their access to state, federal and EU development funds.
SAP provides a number of proven basic constructs that are very useful for the development business. At the same time, our platform is open for country-specific and subject-specific adaptations and at the same time ready for HANA," says Uwe Ackermann, project manager at IBYKUS AG, which developed the solution. The software carries out the conveying processes individually and at the same time in a standardised way. It thus dramatically reduces the administrative costs for subsidy management.
