- One of the largest healthcare services groups in Asia
successfully migrated to Microsoft Azure
- 10,000 users and more than 1 million SAPS
T-Systems supported Zuellig Pharma, one of the largest healthcare services groups in Asia, in successfully implementing SAP HANA in the Public Cloud. This is T‑Systems´ largest SAP customer installation in the Asia-Pacific region, with more than 10,000 users and one million SAPS*. Within nine months, experts from Deutsche Telekom's business customer subsidiary relocated Zuellig Pharma’s SAP landscape to Microsoft Azure.
“This is a big milestone for us, as we progress in our digital transformation journey. We will continue to invest in technology to provide the best services for the healthcare industry, so that together, we can continue to make healthcare more accessible in Asia,” said Maikel Kuijpers, Zuellig Pharma CIO and SVP Operations. The company has grown to become a US$12 billion business covering 13 markets with over 10,000 employees. Zuellig Pharma serves over 350,000 medical facilities and work with over 1,000 clients, including the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in the world.
"The project underscores our international delivery capability for both SAP and cloud services," said T-Systems CEO Adel Al Saleh, adding: "It also demonstrates the success of our strategy of working closely with partners such as SAP and Microsoft." The necessary hardware was shipped from the United States to Singapore to support this project, making it the first and largest installation in this
area to run on a Microsoft Azure platform. With Managed Services for SAP applications on Microsoft Azure, customers can now self-serve SAP systems in Asia Pacific that are immediately productive. This means that SAP HANA systems can be up and running within 30 minutes.
In addition to 40 terabytes of SAP HANA storage, customers will also receive a firewall upgrade from 1 to 10 gigabits. The goal is to maintain data availability at the highest level using SUSE High Availability Clustering – automated recovery of applications and data in real time – and Microsoft Azure availability zones for disaster recovery.
SAPS ‑ SAP Application Performance Standard
The SAP Application Performance Standard is a unit of measurement that describes the performance (throughput) of an SAP system configuration. This hardware-independent unit is based on the SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) benchmark. It is defined as:
2,000 fully processed order items per hour = 100 SAPS
