MagMoves: the next level of healthcare

We recognize the challenges our society faces, such as the lack of physical activity and the amount of time spent sitting, which can lead to chronic health issues. In fact, according to the Robert Koch Institute, more than two-thirds of Germans are either overweight or obese. Sedentary lifestyles significantly impact an individual’s well-being, leading to reduced productivity, increased healthcare costs, and even premature death. Welcome to MagMoves, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Health Coach in the metaverse that provides innovative solutions to meet your health and wellness needs.

The background to MagMoves

A McKinsey study, Value creation in the metaverse, found that 95 percent of global executives surveyed in 2022 believe the metaverse will have a positive impact on their sectors within five to ten years. We are now in a race to enable practical ideas that positively impact the revolution towards the metaverse. And where better to start than healthcare? With the rise of chronic health conditions and the ever-increasing demands of modern life, the need for accessible and personalized healthcare has never been greater. The healthcare market in Germany is rapidly growing, with a projected worth of €411.7 billion by 2024. At T-Systems, we understand that prevention is the best medicine, which is why we are stepping forward to create an AI Health Coach that will be available via augmented reality (AR) or as an application (app). Our goal is to provide an innovative and personalized approach to healthcare that empowers our clients and users to take control of their health and wellness journey. We came up with MagMoves as part of the Chief Tomorrow Officer Program (CTO) at T-Systems by answering the question for tomorrow: How will we stay physically active in the metaverse? Throughout the program, I collaborated with our health vertical and developed the idea of virtual care with the support of the CTO team. Our motivation was that we believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, and prevention is the key to a healthier future. With our AI Health Coach, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that empower humans to take control of their health and wellness journey.

MagMoves

What is MagMoves?

MagMoves is here to help. It is an AI Health Coach that focuses on gamifying health, customization, and personalized healthcare recommendations. Using our app, users can keep track of their physical activity, receive tailored healthcare advice, and create a customized avatar that will live in the metaverse. Additionally, our app keeps track of the user´s calendar, making it easier to incorporate physical activity into their busy schedule.

Why do we need MagMoves?

Prevention is future wellness. In the world of healthcare, prevention has always been better than cure. With the normalization of the metaverse, AR, and virtual reality (VR), we are responsible for taking the best out of these technologies for society’s benefit. As they become more widespread, we expect to see a significant increase in the time people spend in virtual environments, which could have profound implications for our health and well-being. That’s where MagMoves comes in – we designed our AI Health Coach to help users stay healthy and active in the metaverse, using gamification, customization, and personalization to make it more engaging and effective. The potential health risks of spending too much time in virtual environments are significant. Studies have shown that prolonged use of VR can lead to headaches, nausea, and other health issues. Additionally, the sedentary nature of virtual environments means that people may be more prone to weight gain, muscle atrophy, and other health problems. One study found that people who spend more than four hours a day sitting are at a higher risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Prevention is vital to reducing healthcare costs and improving overall health outcomes. Studies have shown that for every dollar spent on prevention, up to $5.60 can be saved in future healthcare costs . Prevention not only saves money but also improves the quality of life for our users. By adopting healthy habits and prioritizing wellness, users can live happier and healthier lives, free from the burden of chronic illness and disease. As the world becomes more digitalized, the potential for MagMoves to significantly impact healthcare prevention is enormous. By leveraging the power of technology and the metaverse, we can provide users with an engaging and effective way to take control of their health and well-being.

Prevention is the ultimate goal of all medicine.”

Transforming Health: The MagMoves approach

In recent years, gamification, customization, and personalization have become buzzwords in healthcare. However, the truth is that these concepts have been around for centuries, as humans have always sought ways to make healthcare more engaging, relevant, and tailored to their individual needs. With the advent of technology and the rise of the metaverse, their potential has never been greater. MagMoves is at the forefront of this movement.

  • Gamification uses game design elements in non-game contexts to increase engagement and motivation. MagMoves leverages the power of gamification to make health and wellness fun and interactive. Our AI Health Coach uses game-like mechanics such as points, levels, and rewards to encourage users to adopt healthy habits and stick with them over time. By making health a game, we can make it more enjoyable and accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level.
  • Customization tailors a product or service to meet a user's specific needs and preferences. MagMoves takes customization to the next level by allowing users to create and personalize their avatars, virtual representations of themselves in the metaverse. Customization makes the experience more immersive and engaging to motivate users and help them feel more invested in their health and wellness journey.
  • Personalization provides tailored recommendations and insights based on individual user data. MagMoves uses AI and machine learning to analyze user data such as fitness levels, activity patterns, and health history to provide personalized recommendations for nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes. By tailoring our advice to each user, we can provide a more effective and efficient approach to healthcare that considers each person’s unique needs and circumstances.

The next level of virtual care

MagMoves uses gamified healthcare, customization, and personalization for proactive, preventative healthcare. These powerful digital tools can transform well-being and offer engaging, relevant, and effective virtual care. With MagMoves, users experience the benefits of these concepts in a fun and interactive way while receiving personalized recommendations tailored to their specific needs and preferences. MagMoves does not diagnose but complements other forms of healthcare, such as telehealth. In the future, it may have the potential to integrate with provider and patient records.

During my Chief Tomorrow Officer internship, I have been collecting data and perfecting this idea. With the support of the T-Systems health vertical and the Chief Tomorrow officer program, we hope that MagMoves comes to life soon.
