Telekom Healthcare Cloud for DiGA: Secure apps on prescription

Since October 2020, those insured have had the right to care using digital healthcare applications (DiGA). However, the apps on prescription must satisfy the highest data protection and IT security requirements of the DiGAV. Telekom offers the optimal technical foundation to meet all requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM).

Telekom's German cloud data centers

In addition to the therapeutic benefit of DiGA apps, BfArM also checks criteria such as functional suitability, quality, data security, and data protection. T-Systems helps start-ups and other app developers meet these requirements. Anyone currently wanting to develop a DiGA will receive technical and expert advice on this from T-Systems. The Telekom Healthcare Cloud also enables T-Systems to offer precisely the right foundations for GDPR-compliant technology from Telekom's own German data centers.

Optimal platform for development and operations

The Telekom Healthcare Cloud meets the regulatory requirements which enable an approval of digital health applications with BfArM. OpenShift as a service also allows T-Systems to provide one of the best and most secure DevOps environments, while providing support with change and risk management after the launch of an app. App developers also benefit from numerous add-on services, such as ready-made software libraries and services (including OpenShift ecosystem), which facilitate and accelerate both development and stable operation.

Retrospective BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) approval is also possible

Even applications that are already in place can be retrospectively included in the DiGA register – but only if the specifications are in line with BfArM. T-Systems provides support with this too: For example, the Healthcare Cloud is hosted in highly-secure Telekom data centers in Germany with multiple certifications. This facilitates the BfArM approval. T-Systems healthcare experts also advise and support software companies and start-ups wishing to migrate their existing app from another provider to the secure Telekom public cloud.

The Telekom Healthcare Cloud offers optimal requirements for DiGA providers. If you want to develop and operate your app in compliance with GDPR and DiGAV, you have come to the right place. We also help operators who do not currently meet the requirements of BfArM with their existing applications to switch to the secure Telekom operating environment.
