The basic element: the application dossier
You should put your application dossier together very carefully, and only put into it what is essential: a covering letter, a résumé, and references and certificates that are relevant to the advertised position.
Short and sharp: the covering letter
All application dossiers should include a covering letter. This is where you explain why you are so interested in the position, and why you are the best candidate for the job. Keep it short – covering letters should be no longer than one page of DIN A4. You need to be precise: Tell us what practical experience you have. Say why you suit the position. If the position has an international flavor, you can write your application e. g., in English.
Focused on what's important: the résumé
Short, structured, to the point – that is how your résumé should be. We don't want you to write a novel. Focus on the elements which relate to the job you want. Be sure to explain the responsibilities you had in your last job. This is how we advise you to sequence your résumé: Personal details, education with specialist subjects and grades. Put your work experience in reverse chronological order, i.e., always put your current job first. Do you really have such a lot to tell us? If so, just link us to your Xing or LinkedIn profile.
Relevant stuff only: References and certificates
Check carefully which references and certificates are relevant to the position. Do you stand out because you have additional qualifications which make you particularly suitable for the job? If you do, please say what they are. We are also very interested in: any internships, periods spent in other countries (state the exact period) and language or IT courses. By the way, being highly motivated, keen to learn and flexible are more important to us than your references and certificates.
The professional approach pays: your application photo
A photo is not obligatory, but it can help you. But to do so it needs to be professional. Ask your friends to help you choose the right picture. By the way, do be bold! Color and design elements pep up any application dossier. Feel free to express your originality here. We look forward to seeing it. Because we are always on the lookout for creative talent.
