Canceled flights, failed cash register systems or paralyzed office PCs: Do you remember? Last July, in many places, nothing worked. The faulty update from a cybersecurity provider led to numerous IT failures worldwide. According to estimates, around 8.5 million Windows devices were affected.1 With some drastic consequences. As a result, the affected companies had to temporarily shut down operations and send employees home.
This example shows how important smooth digital processes are today. But it is also clear that: there will never be 100% protection against IT security incidents. Breakdowns can happen every day and cannot be completely avoided. However, the degree of failure can be influenced, for example, by companies using several hyperscalers to avoid a vendor lock-in. Or they rely on robust cloud-native environments to better protect critical business applications. A trustworthy partner like T-Systems is crucial here, because it can quickly rectify IT failures, effectively fend off cyberattacks, and thus increase the overall resilience of companies.
As a reliable partner, T-Systems has more than 20 years of experience with cloud projects at companies in all industries worldwide. These include highly regulated ones such as healthcare and the public sector. We have now taken another important step: our Cloud Professional Services division, CProServ for short, was conceived as a "start-up" and bridges the gap between strategy and technology. We successfully navigate our customers through their cloud journey. Regardless of where they are in the cloud transformation process.
What is important to us when navigating? We bring business and IT together and stand for competence, reliability, and a human touch. This confirms the assessment of a global market research company, which associates us with enormous trustworthiness and industry expertise. We solve complex IT issues – for example, we migrate legacy systems to modern cloud platforms, carry out FinOps assessments, migrate critical SAP workloads to SAP S/4HANA or offer RISE with SAP consulting. Our experts are highly motivated, have extensive industry know-how, give their all for the customer, and yet always have that "human touch" – an important differentiating factor in the market for our human-to-human business.
In our day-to-day project work, my team and I regularly ask ourselves how we can meet all your needs and requirements: What is particularly important for your business success? We therefore tailor our services to the business needs of our customers. As one of the leading IT service providers in Europe, we have the expertise to master your challenges at every step of the transformation. We ensure that the cloud journey runs smoothly, efficiently, and securely so that you can exploit the full potential of the cloud.
Regardless of whether it rains, storms or shines during our customers' cloud journey – we navigate them safely to their destination and have the right cloud offering for every need.
In our day-to-day project work, we repeatedly find that companies have different levels of maturity when it comes to cloud use. Broadly speaking, three phases can be distinguished:
Thanks to our experience, we support companies in every phase and know the pressing questions of those responsible. Many of them are currently facing numerous challenges, for example, with regard to process optimization and cost efficiency. Although 91 percent of CIOs expect an increase in IT budgets for the next financial year, according to a recent study, four out of ten expect an increase of less than five percent.2 In addition, the shortage of skilled workers is threatening to worsen. In 2023, there were 149,000 unfilled IT positions in German companies, compared to just 82,000 five years earlier.3 Increasing cost pressure and a shortage of skilled workers mean that companies are turning to providers such as T-Systems. A C-level survey conducted in 2023 revealed that they primarily prefer trustworthy partners with industry expertise.4
As if that weren't enough, many companies are also concerned about modernizing and migrating legacy systems. According to market analysts, around 70 percent of workloads will be running in a cloud environment by 2028 thanks to increasing modernization initiatives. For comparison: in 2023, the figure was only 25 percent. As a result, the importance of cloud-native infrastructures is also increasing. The aim is for companies to become more agile and flexible and to promote innovation. Last but not the least, compliance and cybersecurity are on the list of current challenges. In particular, EU regulations relating to sustainability reporting and the Network and Information Security Directive (NIS-2) require the companies concerned to take appropriate measures.
In order to meet all requirements, we always have a listening ear for the customer and ask decision-makers in all business areas – such as HR, finance, or production – what they expect and need from IT. For example, the CFO must be able to provide information on current financial data more quickly or carry out data analyses in real time. Our cloud solutions help the CFO to speed up evaluations, optimize financial processes, and increase data quality. No matter how far you are with your cloud journey, we have everything you need to exploit the full potential of the cloud. To support your transformation in the best possible way, we focus on five key areas: Cloud Assessment, FinOps, RISE with SAP Cloud Advisory, Cloud Acceleration, and VMware Consulting.
Regardless of the maturity level of cloud use, many customers are currently asking themselves: Do we already have the right cloud strategy? Or: We know where we want to go with the cloud, but not how we can achieve this? This is where our Cloud Assessment & Transformation Advisory Services can help:
What's more: many companies use cloud solutions from multiple providers. So they find it difficult to keep track of all the costs. CFOs in particular are wondering how they can keep their finances under control in the cloud jungle. This is where our FinOps Assessment offering can help. We evaluate your current FinOps options and tools. We also check which cloud resources are used for which workloads and how cloud costs are distributed. Based on the results, we create forecasts and recommend cost optimization measures to ensure an optimal fit between workloads and the cloud solution.
Our Cloud Professional Services support solutions based on all cloud technologies and cover all platforms – including private, public or sovereign clouds. As a certified premium supplier for RISE with SAP, we also advise on suitable cloud deployment models and how to switch to RISE with SAP easily and efficiently. For SAP customers, we are the ideal partner for defining the optimum migration strategy to the cloud while ensuring the necessary flexibility. We also support VMware customers. They need to master the immediate, medium and long-term challenges arising from the acquisition of VMware by Broadcom. We offer a range of solutions for this – from fully managed private cloud solutions to subscription services with comprehensive support and VMware consulting.
Our many success stories underline how our Cloud Professional Services are driving transformation in companies. T-Systems supported an international car manufacturer with the introduction of the Google Cloud Platform. The aim was to utilize the full potential of all available services as part of a multi-cloud strategy. T-Systems integrated Google Cloud into the existing tool landscape and delivered a secure infrastructure that increases efficiency within the company. In another project, we assisted a large hospital with the migration to the T-Systems Sovereign Cloud powered by Google Cloud. This solution supports the hospital with digitalization, improves the quality of care, and relieves the burden on medical staff.
We implemented another project for an international meat producer that previously used vCloud and local data center systems. In order to drive forward the digital transformation, those responsible began to provide the first services in the public cloud. They quickly called in external help – and T-Systems CProServ has been supporting their cloud journey ever since. We developed, for example, a stable public cloud environment with automated services. We also helped transform all legacy systems to make the most of cloud service delivery. We migrated more than 200 systems from vCloud, over 260 databases and the entire data center to the cloud.
