Deutsche Telekom/T-Systems and DeutschlandGPT are bringing the language model "BildungsLLM" for students to German schools. The model, based on the open source model Llama 3.3 70b, was developed specifically for school use and is operated sovereignly and climate-friendly in the data centers of the Open Telekom Cloud.
The aim is to provide an independent technological basis to support learners, relieve teachers, and familiarize young people with the responsible use of artificial intelligence. Learners and teachers need a "didactic" language model that helps students to develop solutions themselves and achieve learning goals. It is intended to accompany students in finding solutions, rather than delivering ready-made solutions. A decisive advantage: all data is processed exclusively in Germany - in compliance with strict GDPR requirements. In addition, interactions with the BildungsLLM are not stored to ensure the anonymity of the students.

The language model accompanies students in finding solutions, instead of delivering ready-made solutions directly. The large language model is not only tailored to the didactic requirements of schools, but also optimized for the German language. It is based on a further development of the open-source model Llama 3.3. For the further development, DeutschlandGPT relied on its own data and synthetic data, which were directly incorporated into the new model. In addition, the underlying model must guarantee legal certainty for schools when used. So-called "Guard" functionalities ensure that inputs and outputs comply with ethical guidelines, safety requirements, and content restrictions.
Deutsche Telekom/T-Systems assumes the operation of the language model on the Open Telekom Cloud (OTC), while DeutschlandGPT is responsible for the development of the AI model. BildungsLLM is offered as a scalable solution for public educational institutions and private providers of learning software via the OTC Marketplace.
