What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is an artificial intelligence language model developed by OpenAI. It is a form of machine learning technology trained on a large corpus of text data. Via a chatbot, it generates human-like responses in natural language processing tasks.

What is special about ChatGPT?   

The fascinating thing about ChatGPT is that the AI technology has the capability to carry out many tasks with near-human competence in real-time. It isn't just the quality of the output that is impressive, but also the accessibility via a chatbot and the ability to conduct long and complicated discussions. Anyone can use ChatGPT – back-office tasks relevant to advanced artificial intelligence include:    

  • Understanding, generating, and summarizing texts 
  • Producing dialogue with contextual understanding, including words with multiple potential meanings 
  • Understanding and translating a variety of languages
  • Utilizing programming languages to generate, test, and document code 

Understanding ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a service from OpenAI in the sector known as generative AI. This service is based on what is known as "large language models", that is, AI models for language, which are themselves based on enormous volumes of data. GPT-4 is the latest of these models. Thanks to this broad foundation of data, these models can be described as "foundation models": models which, in terms of the scope of knowledge, are comparable to a person taking a general higher education entrance qualification. Of course, this also presents challenges: the internet does not exclusively contain factually correct or ethically acceptable content. That's why it is always necessary to consider aspects relating to ethics, misinformation, and learning based on a company's own data.

Ultimately, the AI-powered model generates text predictions that are purely based on mathematical probabilities. If a significant amount of fake news and false information is distributed across the internet, AI will reflect this. Transparency regarding the development of GPT-4 and the use of user data in the OpenAI service is currently limited. However, other open-source foundation models are available to use. Despite these challenges, it is no longer possible to ignore this technology.

The rise and rise of ChatGPT

In just five days, ChatGPT from OpenAI had 1 million registered users; in just a few weeks, it had 100 million, making it the fastest growing application in history. There is no question that artificial intelligence helps people and is taking hold in the world of work. You can generate direct added value for your end customers through improved and more efficient customer service. For example, AI apps such as ChatGPT can carry out complete customer discussions and provide contextually appropriate responses to provide technical support. Harness artificial intelligence
