T-Systems and Daimler have developed the Mercedes me retrofit solution as part of their technology partnership. Through the digital service platform, the driver is connected to the car from any location and can make use of the digital services. Goal of the digital retrofit: stronger customer loyalty far beyond the purchase of a car.
Daimler was looking for a solution to improve its after-sales processes. The goal was to help increase car sales revenues with new digital services. It was successful. Since 2016, Mercedes me has been available for 27 passenger car models and four van models in 22 countries and is offered exclusively via the OEM dealer network.
The adapter makes it possible to retrofit many models built after 2002. The T-Systems solution has its own Mercedes-Benz serial number and is approved and certified according to the technical standards of the automotive industry.
Based on the data from adapter and backend systems, dealers can increase customer loyalty by, for example, proactively contacting them to plan for regular maintenance and service intervals or make individual offers.
The T-Systems solution includes an OBD adapter, a smartphone app for customers, an IoT platform, and integration into the manufacturer-specific IT and process landscape. The backend systems are operated entirely in a highly secure private cloud by T-Systems on behalf of the OEMs and are subject to strict German data privacy regulations.
